The Infinites' Nina Segovia Music Video Premiere
The Infinites’ first single, “Nina Segovia,” now has an official music video.
Put together by guitarist Dan Levine (w/ some flowers by yours truly), the clip is a subtle, soothing dream. Abstract movement shifts directions in time with the song, with footage of the band sort of flickering in, hanging out in the shadows. You can’t really make out any of their faces.
Nearly half the song floats along before the vocals start. “I’d like to tell you about Nina Segovia/ And when I’m done talking, you’ll fall in love with her,” sings Jared Leibowich, evoking the magic of storytelling— you can say what you’re about to do, but they’ll still fall for the illusion. The bright, bouncy song feels like love in bloom. Two minutes go by in a heartbeat.
So begins an instantly classic album full of miniatures like this one, each focussing a beam of empathy on a different fictional character. (Their debut album, The Infinites, comes out April 26.)
